Birmingham Wedding Photographer - Emily & Jamie’s couple shoot in Digbeth
Hey folks, It’s Steph, your 5ft, fun Birmingham Wedding Photographer. Todays blog is a goody for you! A couple of weeks back I did an awesome couple shoot in Digbeth with Emily & Jamie. In this blog you will get to see a more creative style to my photography that I’m so excited to share with you.
when a photographer has a new lens baby!
I was so excited adding a 35mm lens to my collection, that I just had to try it out on a shoot. I put a shout out on Instagram for a couple to be my guinea pigs on a couple shoot in Digbeth. Emily responded, totally up for the shoot and we booked a date.
Being a Birmingham Wedding Photographer, I am so lucky to have the amazing Digbeth on my doorstep. Digbeth’s not only one of my favourite places for food and drink, it’s one of my fave locations for a wedding! If you’re not getting married in Digbeth but love the place, don’t worry, you can have a Digbeth couple shoot instead. You will have the best time here, especially with me! haha
Emily & Jamie already lived in Digbeth, so like me, they loved having their couple shoot in Digbeth. We started at the Custard Factory, which has so many gems, like this awesome stag head graffiti piece in the car park. I always get drawn to the strange and unusual (like my Beetlejuice reference thrown in there?!?) Jamie works at All Saints, so this was fitting. Digbeth is full of amazing graffiti by such talented Birmingham artists!
This couple shoot in Digbeth was an opportunity for me to test out my new 35mm lens. I was so happy with the results I got from this shoot, mainly because Emily & Jamie were bloody superstars! This lens is perfect for couple photos, giving you depth to capture the colourful Digbeth graffiti but not distort the couple. As a Birmingham wedding photographer, I may be slightly biased and think Digbeth has some of the best graffiti in the UK!
On Emily & Jamie’s couple shoot in Digbeth, we came across an awesome bespoke furniture shop called Groove. Their work was awesome, if you’re looking for a wood locker these guys are for you! Not only was their shop awesome, they had this amazing wall outside their Digbeth shop! I just had to use it as a backdrop!
The streets of Digbeth were so quiet, that we had plenty of time to capture some shots in the streets. On your couple shoot with me, I do make sure you’re safe when i’m photographing you. On a normal day, it can be quite busy in Digbeth, so this was a rare opportunity. I am drawn to lines, geometry and symmetry and the industrial setting of Digbeth is the perfect location for this. Digbeth is such an inspiring space for a Birmingham Wedding Photographer who loves industrial vibes!
Having your pre wedding/ couple shoot in Digbeth is not just about the graffiti. I love the architecture of the old building lining the streets of Digbeth. I love the mix of old and new you find in Digbeth. Old buildings like the one above are a beautiful contrast to the new bars and venues bringing life to Digbeth.
A newer bar in Digbeth is here, Zumhof Biergarten. This spot is awesome for you and your friends to grab a pint and a bratwurst in Digbeth. This was also a pretty cool spot for some chilled shots for this couple shoot in Digbeth. Not gonna lie though, this little Birmingham wedding photographer fell flat on her Butt coming down this staircase. 3 weeks later and my bum is still hurting!
Here we have an epic smoke grenade shot in Digbeth. I never used to be a fan of smoke grenades, until I saw the colours they come in and realised how much fun you can have with them! The smoke grenade really worked on this couple shoot in Digbeth as it really suited the grafitti street. This fun Birmingham Wedding Photographer will always make sure you’re having fun on your couple shoot!
Foka Wolf y’all, Foka Foka Wolf y’all!
I am so thankful to Emily & Jamie for doing this couple shoot in Digbeth. We had such a good time walking around the quiet streets of Digbeth and had a few giggles too! As a proud Birmingham Wedding Photographer, I love being in Digbeth capturing the art and sharing my love of the place with my awesome couples! It’s such a great place to visit for a beer and some yummy grub! So make sure you get your Butt’s down to Digbeth and support the awesome businesses there! Of course I had to end this blog with Foka Wolf’s latest piece in Digbeth!
